The decision to establish DSAC was revealed on January 26 during a ceremony where Le Trung Chinh, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, emphasised the centre’s pivotal role in realising the city’s strategic goals.

The establishment of DSAC signifies the city’s commitment to concretise political determination in addressing urgent tasks and executing a strategic plan for integrated circuit (IC) design and artificial intelligence.

The Chairman believes the DSAC will actively engage in research, design training activities, and technology transfer in the domains of microchips, semiconductors, and AI development. Additionally, it will play a pivotal role in fostering international cooperation in these critical fields.

The centre is also assigned the responsibility of collaborating with relevant establishments to develop comprehensive training programmes, materials, and courses. Moreover, DSAC will provide consultation services and facilitate technology transfers, aligning with the city’s overarching strategy for technological growth.

The newly formed centre is tasked with conducting research and designing training programmes in microchip development, semiconductors, and artificial intelligence. Additionally, DSAC will actively engage in technology transfer initiatives, facilitating the exchange of expertise with global counterparts.

The facility is expected to play a crucial role in coordinating efforts with relevant institutions to develop comprehensive training programmes and educational materials and organising specialised courses.

Recognising the importance of collaboration, DSAC will work closely with relevant establishments to create synergies in the development of training materials and programmes. The centre’s commitment extends to offering consultation services and facilitating technology transfers, thereby contributing to the overall growth and competence of the semiconductor and AI sectors.

In conjunction with the announcement, the municipal People’s Committee organised a seminar to discuss Da Nang’s policies aimed at attracting investment in the semiconductor and AI industries. The event also provided insights into the city’s strategic orientations for human resources development in these rapidly evolving fields. The seminar served as a platform to engage stakeholders and shed light on the city’s vision for capitalising on emerging opportunities.

Industry analysts predict a significant upswing in the semiconductor market in Vietnam. With an estimated compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.5% between 2021 and 2025, the market presents a promising landscape for growth and technological advancement in the region.

OpenGov Asia had earlier reported on the plan for a newly established centre, set to operate under the management of the municipal Department of Information and Communications, as a result of the restructuring of the Da Nang high-quality human resources development centre within the Department of Home Affairs.

A market research company predicts a significant growth trajectory for the semiconductor market in Vietnam, with an estimated compound annual growth rate of 6.5% between 2021 and 2025. The country’s current pool of over 5,570 IC engineers is concentrated, with more than 85% in Ho Chi Minh City, 8% in Hanoi, and 7% in Da Nang.

This distribution underscores the importance of strategic initiatives, like the establishment of the new centre in Da Nang, to address the growing demand for skilled professionals in the semiconductor sector.

The Da Nang Semiconductor and AI Center is crucial for Vietnam, fostering high-quality engineers for sustainable economic growth. Da Nang’s advancements in microchips and AI signal a promising future in emerging technologies.
